Footage shows the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Milton's deadly tornadoes as they batter Florida with terrifying gales and sea surges.

Video released by the U.S. state's Martin County Sheriff's Office shows the trail of destruction left by the storm as it tore through communities.

The Sheriff's Office said: 'Here is a look at the tornado that did so much damage to the Mariner Sands Community and surrounding area.'

One clip shows a full-blown twister ripping through the wealthy Mariner Sands estate just north of exclusive Palm Beach, where homes go for around USD 2 million.

Another clip shows police arriving at a nearby trailer park, which had been torn apart by a tornado, snapping homes in half and ripping their roofs off.

One devastated resident said: 'Those are two of my neighbours. The guy's roof landed in my sister's yard, damaged her house.'

A further video shows deputies using chainsaws to cut through huge trees brought down by 120mph winds on flooded roads that look more like a river.

The Sheriff's Office said: 'MCSO deputies are using chainsaws to remove debris blocking entrances and homes where residents have reported injuries from a tornado hit. This is inside the Mariner Sands community.'

Another clip shows a luxury motor cruiser battered against its mooring as Hurricane Milton landed.

More than two million homes and businesses are reported without power across the Sunshine State.

Three Florida offices of the National Weather Service in Miami, Tampa, and Melbourne issued more than 130 tornado warnings associated with the storm by Wednesday evening.

Hurricane Milton made landfall on Wednesday on Florida's Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm, bringing powerful winds, a dangerous storm surge, and potential flooding to many areas of the state.

The Miami-based National Hurricane Center said the cyclone had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph (205 kph) when it struck Siesta Key, Florida, at 8:30 pm. Officials have confirmed at least 16 fatalities related to the storm.

The region is still reeling from the damage inflicted by Hurricane Helene.
