Man-eating tiger that killed two men is caught and caged in Malaysia
A man-eating tiger that reportedly killed two people was captured by wildlife authorities in Malaysia.
Video shows the fearsome beast growling from inside a cage in the Jeli District of Kelantan State, on October 19.
The Kelantan Department of Wildlife and National Park Protection (PERHILITAN) laid out traps around the area after two men were found mauled by a tiger last week.
Mohamad Hafid Rohani, director of PERHILITAN Kelantan, said: 'The striped tiger that was successfully caught is still under investigation to identify whether it is the same tiger that attacked the victims. It will be taken to the National Wildlife Rescue Center (NWRC), Sungkai, Perak for further action.
'We hope the its capture will ease the fears of farm workers here. Still, they are advised to always be careful and alert if they come across wild animals.'
On October 15, heavy machinery driver Adnan Ismail, 54, was reportedly mauled to death by a tiger outside his shared house in Perak.
His Thai wife, Roslaiti Sulaiman claimed she saw the wild animal drag her husband from their outdoor toilet into the nearby woods. He was already dead when police reached him, with severe bite wounds on his neck and left leg.
Just two days later, the mangled corpse of a Myanmar man was found behind his house along the Jeli-Gerik Highway near where the first attack happened.
Tiger attacks in Malaysia are rare but do occur, particularly in rural areas near tiger habitats. These incidents often happen when tigers feel threatened or when they encroach into human settlements due to habitat loss and shrinking prey populations.
