Moment ‘man-eater’ tiger released into the jungle with a chilling roar
This was the moment Indian forest officials released a ‘man-eater’ tiger back into the forest on February 9 after it had killed a woman just days earlier.
The adult male tiger, named Jai, had killed a woman on February 7 at a village near Matkuli, Madhya Pradesh. After people in nearby villages protested, forest officials cornered the tiger with the help of two captive elephants on February 8 and tranquilised it.
They gave the tiger a medical check up and decided to release it back in the forest.
A convoy of six vehicles and two captive elephants took the tiger to a remote spot on Satpura National Park on February 9.
Forest officials commented that they usually kept tigers which killed human in captivity.
“But it was the first time Jai had killed a human. We think it was an accident and decided to set him free,” said a forest official.
“We have left him in a secluded part of the forest which is 150-200 km away from any human habitat. It is unlikely that he will attack anyone again,” he added.
Officials have put a radio collar around Jai and will be monitoring his movements continuously.
