This is the adorable moment newborn babies were dressed in Halloween costumes at a hospital.

Footage shows little patients from the Cleveland Clinic Children's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) dressed as cow, caterpillar, owl, zebra, football player, bride, and even Taylor Swift on October 28.

Many of the charming crocheted hats were crafted and gifted by the grandmother of one of the NICU graduates, adding a personal touch to the festivities.

Parents also joined in the fun and dressed up.

The clinic said: 'During what can be an emotional time for our families, we hope this fun event brings them joy. We'd say Halloween couldn't be sweeter!'

Cleveland Clinic has been adorning babies in the NICU with costumes for several years.

Halloween originated some 2000 years ago from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, a celebration marking the end of harvest and the start of winter when it was believed that spirits could cross into the living world.

The tradition evolved as Christianity spread, merging with All Saints' Day on November 1. By the 19th century, Halloween became widely celebrated in America, blending various cultural customs.
