Large Buddha statue delights devotees at unveiling in India
A large Buddha statue delighted devotees at its inauguration in India.
The 20ft sculpture was revealed on Prajna Bodhi Mountain in Bodh Gaya, Bihar - Buddhism's sacred heart - drawing monks and worshippers from across the globe for a grand celebration on December 14.
A special ceremony was organised near Pragya Bodhi Parvat at Sujata Academy in Larapur village.
Footage shows the unveiling of the statue, with hundreds of devotees gathered to pay their respects.
Chief organiser Monk BP Thero Jyoti said the figure will serve as a symbol of peace, compassion, and non-violence.
He added: 'Prajna Bodhi Mountain is the centre of spiritual energy for Buddhist followers.'
Buddhism is a spiritual tradition that originated in ancient India around 2,500 years ago. It was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, meaning 'the awakened one'.
