STORYLINE:
An exhibition exploring cultural heritage, identity, and memory through sand has opened in Namibia's capital of Windhoek.
Created by visual artist Cay Cowley, the exhibition features a variety of highlights, including print art, artifacts sourced from local sand sites, and a striking 3x6-meter mobile installation showcasing various sands from the Waterberg area.
Cowley explains that the installation reflects the area's rich geological history. The Waterberg Plateau serves as a sanctuary for wildlife, including endangered species.
Cowley aims to foster dialogue about land and ancestral ties. Moreover, he hopes that the exhibition can offer a new perspective on land rights and environmental protection.
The exhibition will run until November 8.
