A race fanatic drove a real F1 car through the streets of his neighbourhood in France.

Footage shows Fred, a mechanic who repairs single-seating racing vehicles, travelling in his Formula 1 in Auvergne Rhone Alpes.

His ride was painted white and red and bore logos of different brands, such as cigarettes, cars, and tools.

Fred said he bought the 1990s McLaren motorcar several years ago and has maintained it ever since.

He added: 'The car is high maintenance but it's worth it. I love driving it in public. But the fuel costs are high.'

Marlboro, a major cigarette brand, was McLaren's title sponsor during this era, creating a distinctive red and white colour scheme that became one of the most recognizable liveries in F1 history.

Formula 1 is the highest level of international open-wheel motorsport. The sport is known for its cutting-edge technology, aerodynamics, engineering, and extreme speeds, with cars reaching over 200 mph in some races.
