Thousands of patient care and service workers at UC San Diego Medical Center and other University of California campuses across the state began their two-day strike this morning at midnight alleging unfair bargaining tactics, which the UC system denies.
The AFSCME Local 3299 union says about 37,000 UC workers will participate in the strike, impacting every UC campus and medical facility statewide. The strike ends at midnight Thursday, November 21, 2024, with picketing scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
