Speaking at a consultative forum at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, he emphasized the need for a robust, people-centered approach that promotes national economic transformation and attracts foreign investments.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): WILLIAM RUTO, Kenyan President
"Today we mark a significant milestone in the crucial process of reviewing and consolidating our foreign policy into a comprehensive document. This policy reflects our strategic responses to global imperatives at both bilateral and multilateral levels, and defines the values and principles."

Prime cabinet secretary and foreign affairs cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi noted that recent diplomatic engagements have bolstered Kenya's global image and investment potential.

"Kenya is becoming a pivotal state, a reference center, a nation where people want to know and ask and seek guidance from. That does not come easy, neither does it come lightly. So through this kind of conversation, how do we anchor Kenya's foreign policy? Through this conversation, how do we support it?"

The draft Foreign Policy 2024 provides a comprehensive framework for guiding the nation's foreign relations and diplomatic efforts as Kenya prepares to transition from the 2014 Foreign Policy framework.

The Foreign Policy objectives are structured around seven interlinked focus areas, including peace and security diplomacy, economic and commercial diplomacy, socio-cultural, diaspora, digital, environmental and climate diplomacy.
