Mexico: Mexican politician praises China's development model
Mexico City, Mexico - Recent Mexican Federal Congressman Brasil Acosta Pena has praised China's economic and development model as a potential blueprint for Mexico's future, highlighting the stark economic disparity between the two nations. As a member of Mexico's socialist-leaning political party, the Institutional Revolutionary Party, Acosta has visited China many times, studying its government as a model that has led to extraordinary socio-economic progress. Having recorded more than 30,000 murders last year, Acosta says one of Mexico's first lessons from China must be how it curbs violent crime. Ultimately, Acosta says that if Mexico wishes to flourish, there are lessons to be learned from the other side of the Pacific. He believes Mexico should join the BRICS, a group promoting multilateralism and multipolarity to achieve mutual goals for development, lasting peace and securing a future for humankind. Today, China's GDP is 13 times that of Mexico. The path of socialism with Chinese characteristics has been successful, while in Mexico, there is still a lot of poverty, misery and hunger."; [SHOTS OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 4. Why? Firstly, due to the good public education. Secondly, because the rules are applied and justice is done. And thirdly, because the people don't find themselves in a position, where they need to commit crimes."; 8. Various of wrecked house; 9. In Mexico, we have development, we are the world's 15th largest economy, but we have no wealth distribution. We are among the worst countries for social inequality. We hope the country (China) continues to defend its revolution and its progress."; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 13. Various of Acosta speaking, reading; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] 14.
