Britain's smallest inhabited Island, (royalty free Music) .everything goes over the suspension bridge. Towan Island, Newquay, Cornwall, UK
A major renovation is taking place for the 2025 season, to one of Britain's most iconic Island homes. Towan Island is perched precariously on a sea stack 70 feet above the Ocean. Access via a private 90-feet high suspension bridge over the sea, built in 1910. The island was first sold in 1838 to the Billing brothers, who kept chickens and grew potatoes there. The island was accessed by a path cut into the rock. The island's house was built in 1910 and has been owned by many notable people, including Sir Oliver Lodge, the inventor of the spark plug.
one owner conducted seances and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is believed to have attended. Workmen and delivery people have to grin and heave as nothing arrives without being carried by hand. It is soon possible to rent the Island home for holidays, a week, peak season in 2025 is nearly £6,000 a week. A head for heights and deep pockets are required for a unique stay. Background music is Adobe royalty-free. For more on the Island see the earlier video on Newsflare.
