Mar del Plata, Argentina - December 05, 2024 On Thursday afternoon, a fire broke out at the Reina's hotel in Mar del Plata. Given the desperate situation, many guests were alerted by the advance of the fire and smoke, so they decided to take the risk and jump from the windows. As a result, five people were hospitalized with various injuries. Around 7 p.m. in the hotel located in the La Perla neighborhood, there were moments of great tension and drama. As soon as the smoke was seen, neighbors alerted the volunteer firefighters about a fire in the building. However, the situation caused anguish in the guests, who chose to jump from the windows. The building is mainly home to students from the town of Maipú. Neighbors of the place filmed the moment when some people jumped in fear of the fire. According to the Qué Digital media, the fire started on the second floor of the hotel, and the investigations by volunteer firefighters are expected to determine the causes of the fire. After the alert was issued, a large emergency operation was deployed, with the participation of personnel from the Central Fire Station and four ambulances from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) who not only provided first aid to the victims but also transferred them to the Interzonal Hospital. In this regard, it was detailed that medical personnel treated some people on site due to breathing difficulties, while others suffered minor injuries. In total, five people were hospitalized, but due to the strong falls from the windows located on the lower floors, the guests suffered minor polytraumatisms. Witnesses to the event indicated that at least two women and a man jumped into an adjacent building and from a height of approximately four meters.
