A train driver stopped to prevent a lioness and her cubs from being struck.

The operator successfully prevented wildcats, wondering on the railroad tracks, from becoming roadkill in Gujarat, India.

Footage shows locomotive pilot Sunil Pandit halting mid-journey upon spotting a feline and its two cubs on December 15.

Mashooque Ahmad, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in Bhavnagar, said that a total of 104 lions have been saved so far this year.

The forest department confirmed that the lions were no longer in harm's way, allowing the train to continue its journey.

As part of efforts to conserve and protect wildlife, the forest department has also employed surveillance cameras powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

These cameras recently helped a train operator navigate the railroad without incident, where a family of elephants was spotted ambling toward the tracks.

This initiative is part of a trial project involving AI cameras, launched as a site-specific animal conservation plan with support from Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP).

Plans are underway to expand the project to the Keonjhar and Bonai Forest Divisions, further bolstering wildlife protection efforts in the region.

The local community has expressed admiration for the technology and its potential to save countless lives in the future.

Experts have highlighted the transformative role of AI in wildlife conservation, underscoring its significant impact on preserving our natural world.
