Zoo visitors trick groundhog by placing vegetable on its face
This is the amusing moment zoo visitors tricked a groundhog by placing a vegetable on its face.
Ms Zhu and her friends pranked the marmot by placing a piece of lettuce on its nose in Sichuan, China, on September 26.
Footage shows the seemingly confused animal touching its face to grab the treat. However, when it bent down, the snack fell to the ground, prompting it to munch on the platform.
The filmer said: 'We saw him just strolling in the open and we had vegetables on hand, so we decided to give him a snack.'
Groundhogs are wild animals and are usually content to share space with humans, as long as they are given their space and observed from a distance. However, they can carry rabies, which can be transmitted to humans and other animals through contact. A rabid groundhog may become aggressive and attack people or other animals without provocation.
