Philippines - December 31, 2024 [Note: no sound] Negros Island, Philippines — Kanlaon Volcano unleashed 16 ash emission events over the past two days, with dramatic grayish plumes captured on time-lapse footage today. Between 8:01 AM and 10:07 AM, emissions rose 150-200 meters above the summit crater, drifting westward. The activity was recorded by IP cameras in Brgy. Mansalanao, La Castellana, and the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory in Canlaon City. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) continues to maintain Alert Level 3, signaling ongoing magmatic unrest. Residents and visitors are advised to stay clear of the Permanent Danger Zone as the volcano remains active.
