US, Phoenix: Tempe Baseline Road Multi-Vehicle Collision With Entrapment
Phoenix, United States - January 18, 2026 01/18/2026 03:57 am GMT-0700 TEMPE, Ariz. – Firefighters from Tempe, Phoenix, and Guadalupe responded to reports of a traffic collision with entrapment at the intersection of Priest Drive and Baseline Road shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters found a multi-vehicle crash involving at least four cars, including two Waymo self-driving vehicles. One driver, in a black passenger car, was trapped and unable to exit their vehicle. Firefighters extricated the driver and transported them, along with at least two additional patients, to a local hospital with various injuries. As a result of the incident, eastbound and westbound lanes of Baseline Road were closed between Priest Drive and Darrow Drive.
