Argentina: 20 years after Argentinian 'death trap' club fire
Buenos Aires, Argentina - December 29, 2024 Twenty years ago, during a show by the rock band Callejeros, a flare thrown from the audience started a fire, the disaster that shocked the country and left an open wound in all of Argentine society. The subsequent trial determined that there were around 4,500 people in the club, more than three times the maximum allowed. The fire extinguishers and fire hoses were not working. There was no evacuation plan and the Fire Department certification had expired.
