Drone footage shows flooded roads and nature reserves in West Yorkshire
Flooding has caused roads surrounding Castleford and Wakefield to be closed by police. These included Newton Lane which leads to RSPB Fairburn Ings a nature reserve that was also forced to close due to widespread floods preventing access and causing possible damage to buildings. The closure of RSPB Fairburn Ings resulted in nearby RSPB St Aidans being inundated with visitors who were queuing to enter the car park on a 1 in 1 out basis.
At least two cars were seen abandoned in flood water on Newton Lane and multiple cars ignored police road closure signs to attempt access and were forced to turn around due to high levels of flood water.
