New York, United States - January 05, 2025 MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber holds a media availability following the implementation of the fully operational Congestion Relief Zone at Grand Central Terminal in New York on January 5, 2025. He was joined by MTA executives Shanifah Rieara, Allison C. de Cerreno, Juliette Michaelson and Laura Smith. New York became the first US city with congestion charge to enter the central district, now called 'Congestion Relief Zone'. Money raised will be used to improve public transportation, particularly the aging subway system and improve quality of air in the South Bronx.
