India: Villagers stunned after manual water pump mysteriously spits fire instead of water
Chhatarpur, India - January 04, 2025 An age-old manual water pump became the talk of the village after it unexpectedly started spewing fire instead of water prompting swift investigations into the matter. This phenomenon occurred in Jaitpur village in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh central India on January 4. Visuals show the manual water pump spitting fire instead of water, with locals gathered around filming the unusual spectacle. In contrast, another set of visuals depicts the concerned SDM officer explaining the situation and reassuring the crowd about the ongoing proceedings.According to reports, this hand pump had been supplying water for several years before it suddenly stopped. During the winter, a farmer lit a fire near the pump to keep warm, and unexpectedly, the pump itself caught fire. Following reports of the fire, the sub-divisional officer (SDO) and police inspected the site. A potential presence of methane gas beneath the tubewell is now suspected. To investigate the cause of the fire, the sub-division has contacted a team in Bhopal. Meanwhile, the SDM speculates that methane gas could be responsible, though the exact type of gas will only be confirmed once the investigation report is available.
