This is the intense moment a group of men tried to stop a truck from rolling backward without a driver.

The lorry was climbing uphill when its axle snapped in front of SMK Muhammadiyah Berbah school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on January 6.

Teachers and students rushed outside after hearing a loud noise coming from the truck.

The driver had stepped out of the vehicle to investigate the issue but reportedly failed to properly engage the handbrake, causing the four-wheeler to start rolling in reverse.

As the vehicle began to move downhill, nearby locals and some students sprang into action. Some grabbed the mirror handle and tried to pull it up, while others climbed inside the truck to pull the handbrake.
