Climate extremists attacked the grave of English naturalist and biologist Charles Darwin in London.

Two Just Stop Oil activities spray-painted Darwin's grave at Westminster Abbey on January 13.

They wrote the message '1.5 is Dead', referring to global temperatures surpassing the critical 1.5 degrees Celsius limit set by the 2015 Paris Agreement.

The activists, Alyson Lee, 66, and Di Bligh, 77, called for urgent action to phase out fossil fuels by 2030 to prevent further environmental damage.

Lee said: 'We are already heading for over 3 degrees of warming, which will destroy everything we hold dear.

'The world is on the brink of mass extinction, and the government's plans are inadequate to halt this devastation.'

The activists cited record-breaking temperatures and environmental crises, including California's wildfires, as evidence of the accelerating climate crisis.

Bligh added: 'We've done this because there's no hope for the world, really. We've done it on Darwin's grave specifically because he would be turning in that grave because of the sixth mass extinction taking place now.'

The protest coincides with 2024 being confirmed as the hottest year on record, surpassing the 1.5-degree Celsius threshold.

Followers of the climate agenda have resorted to increasingly aggressive public attacks in recent years - often using violence and intimidation to cause chaos on roads, at events and in art galleries.

The Oxford Languages dictionary defines a terrorist as 'a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims'.
