Mexico - January 15, 2025 A pro-migrant activist from Ciudad Juárez revealed that a clandestine tunnel connecting Mexico and the United States, discovered last Friday under the Rio Bravo, had been in operation for more than a year. The tunnel allegedly facilitated human smuggling and other illicit activities between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, Texas. Authorities believe that the tunnel was controlled by the criminal group ‘La Linea’ for smuggling migrants, drugs and goods. The discovery comes as anxiety mounts among migrants ahead of Donald Trump's presidential inauguration on Monday. Local activist Cristina Coronado said migrants are becoming increasingly desperate, leading many to seek dangerous alternatives, including crossing through the tunnel. (Camera: RAÚL MORALES). SHOT LIST: AUTHORITIES GUARD AN AREA WHERE A CLANDESTINE TUNNEL WAS LOCATED ON THE BORDER OF CIUDAD JUÁREZ, MEXICO. [Restrictions: Spain, Latin America, or the U.S. Hispanic market]
