Spain's flag was raised at the Spanish embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria, on Thursday for the first time since 2012.
It came amid the Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno's visit to Syria.
During his visit, the Spanish top diplomat met with Syrian interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa.
The visit highlighted the new administration's efforts to rebuild ties and secure foreign support for Syria's ongoing transition.
