Palestine - January 22, 2025 Jenin, Jan 22 (EFE) – Jenin, located in the northern West Bank, is a ghost town this Wednesday, with only a few teenagers riding motorcycles despite the drones overhead and the distant sounds of gunfire and explosions. Yesterday, the Israeli army launched a large-scale raid on its refugee camp, resulting in 10 deaths and at least 40 injuries. (Camera: Magda Gibelli / Alaa Badarneh.) Footage: Streets of Jenin, northern West Bank. Statements in arabic from Hazem, ambulance driver and Mohamed. Translation: Hazem, ambulance driver: 1. "Of course, there were several injuries yesterday. At first, it was difficult to reach most of the injured, some of whom had critical wounds that led to their deaths. Medical and ambulance teams could not quickly reach the injured due to the clashes. Early in the morning, we were prevented from entering Jenin Public Hospital because of obstacles placed by military vehicles and the destruction of the infrastructure leading to the hospital. We were also prevented from taking patients to the hospital early in the morning, but later we were allowed to do so. Evacuating patients from Jenin Public Hospital was also prohibited at first, but later permission was granted". 2. "Many families, children are without their fathers and mothers. Why? Because perhaps their mothers and fathers were working in the city, and they heard the soldiers. Maybe they went shopping, leaving the children at home. Now, many are calling, saying: "Please, I need to go to the camp. Please, give me my child." Many families are affected". Mohamed: "We are under occupation (...). Yesterday, the Palestinian Authority was carrying out arrests here alongside the Israeli occupation. When we tried to leave the camp, we were shot at. Now, at Al Razi Hospital, anyone who is injured can be shot by the Israeli occupation, whether they are young people (I understand this refers to activists), camp residents, or civilians. They have placed sand barricades at the entrance to the government hospital and are directing people to Al Razi Hospital, where the Palestinian Authority arrests the injured".
