Storm Eowyn destroys garden shed in Glasgow
Storm Eowyn was seen destroying a garden shed as it caused widespread damage in Glasgow, Scotland, yesterday.
Footage captured by resident Katie shows strong winds pounding the structure, tearing apart its roof and walls on Friday, January 24. Some areas of the country reportedly experienced wind gusts of over 90 mph.
Katie said: 'Roof nearly hit me as I was trying to secure the shed door. Just leaving it until it's all over.'
The Met Office has issued red weather warnings as Eowyn impacts the UK.
Over 1,000 flights were cancelled, and several major roads were briefly closed due to the severe weather.
Across the UK, millions of people were advised to remain indoors as winds reached up to 100 mph (160 km/h) on Friday.
A provisional wind gust of 114 mph (183 km/h) recorded at Mace Head in County Galway, Ireland, is the strongest ever reported by the national weather agency, Met Eireann. Approximately 725,000 properties were left without power, and around 138,000 people were also without water.
One person has been reported dead after a tree fell onto his car in County Donegal.
Although the strongest winds had subsided by Friday evening, the storm was still forecast to bring gusts exceeding 80 mph (128 km/h) to the coasts and hills of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
