STORYLINE:

This will be the eighth year that Liu Wei, a courier, spends the Spring Festival holiday working in Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province.

Liu's hometown is thousands of kilometers away in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, but he chooses to stay in Xiamen for the Spring Festival, feeling his work is particularly important during this time.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): LIU WEI, Courier with SF Express
"This is my eighth Spring Festival on duty. During the holiday, I am mainly responsible for delivering parcels to four residential communities, handling around 100 parcels a day. I've gotten used to not going home for the holiday and usually take my time off afterwards. I see it as my responsibility to help make life easier for people through my work during this busy period. That makes me feel content and happy."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): LIU WEI, Courier with SF Express
"In my 11 years of working in the industry, I've seen how quickly express delivery has evolved. More and more delivery services are embracing eco-friendly practices. For example, the tape we use now is biodegradable, and our cardboard boxes are recyclable and reusable. We also use woven bags that are designed for reuse. Our delivery vehicles are electric, helping to support environmental sustainability."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): LIU WEI, Courier with SF Express
"I am passionate about my job. In recent years, delivery workers have received more attention and recognition from different sectors of society, and our working conditions have improved a lot. When I deliver parcels on time and make things easier for customers, just hearing a simple 'thank you' gives me a real sense of accomplishment. After more than ten years of hard work, I've been able to settle my family in Xiamen, and knowing that my efforts are helping to provide a better life for them adds to my sense of achievement and happiness."
