Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Saturday expressed the wish to see stronger ties between Australia and China.

He said that economic ties between the two countries are very important as Australia exports products such as beef, lobsters and wine to China.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): ANTHONY ALBANESE, Australian Prime Minister
"Australia is fortunate to look north to the fastest growing region of the world in human history, and that represents an incredible opportunity for Australia to seize. Our government has worked hard to stabilize Australia's relationship with China. This means that families in Shanghai and Beijing are sitting down to enjoy a meal of Australian beef, perhaps with Australian barley making a contribution as well. Australian lobster, which is back big time than ever before, and of course all washed down with the best wine in the world - Australian wine. This is a good thing for Australia, but it's a good thing for China as well."
The prime minister stressed that in comparison with the economic ties, the relationship between the two peoples is even more important.
He added that the Chinese New Year celebrations are part of Australia's cultural heritage.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): ANTHONY ALBANESE, Australian Prime Minister
"We gather to welcome the Year of the Snake in a spirit of joy surrounded by vibrant color and energy. We look forward together with optimism for the new opportunities that a new year brings. And we wish each other good fortune in all that matters most, our happiness, health, family, and prosperity. The Chinese culture has enriched Australia and broadened our horizons now for hundreds of years."
SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): ANTHONY ALBANESE, Australian Prime Minister
"Xin Nian Kuai Le (Happy New Year)!
Gong Xi Fa Cai (Wishing you prosperity)!"
