London, UK. 8 February 2025. Hundreds of protesters gather to oppose Rwanda involvement in the current Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) conflict, particularly with regards to providing military training, funding, and even direct participation of Rwandan troops in combat alongside the M23 rebel group. The M23's capture of mining areas rich in coltan, has been cited as a motivation linked to economic interests, facilitated by Rwandan support. The conflict has led to significant displacement of civilians, with hundreds of thousands fleeing the violence, particularly around Goma. There are also reports of human rights abuses, including sexual violence, attributed to the M23.. Credit: Andrea Domeniconi
