A pair of American B-52 bombers flew over the Middle East in a show of military might.

The aircraft had taken off from the Royal Air Force Fairford in the United Kingdom, and travelled across nine partner countries within the area of responsibility of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), on February 17.

They also carried out 'live munition drops at ranges in several partner nations' during the flight.

CENTCOM commander General Michael Erik Kurilla said: 'Bomber Task Force missions demonstrate U.S. power projection capability, commitment to regional security, and ability to respond to any state or non-state actor seeking to broaden or escalate conflict in the CENTCOM region.'

The U.S. has maintained a significant military presence in the Middle East following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
