Holidaymakers ordered food from a restaurant, and it was delivered by a robot to their hotel room in Zhejiang, China, on March 6.

Footage shows the machine heading towards the room, where a toddler then took the package out of its compartment.

The filmer said: 'It was impressive that they use robots for room service. The delivery guy was not able to get inside the building, so the reception clerk made the robot deliver it to us.'

Human and animal-like robots are being developed in several countries, with China and the United States leading the 'tech arms race.'

Earlier this month, a military-style robot dog was even spotted protecting President-Elect Donald Trump in Florida.
