China is using robots to deliver packages up flights of stairs
Footage shows how China uses robots to deliver packages up flights of stairs.
A delivery worker employed the robotic system to transport a washing machine to an upper-floor unit in an apartment building in Shandong, China, on August 17.
Video shows the device slowly and steadily climbing the steps, carrying the secured appliance with ease.
The mechanism uses a hydraulic foot to lift the trolley to the next step, after which the two wheels attached to the machine move it to the next elevation.
This innovative device helps deliverers prevent intensive labours transporting heavy and big packages in tall residential buildings in the city.
Last month, a robot dog 'porter' carried items for tourists at Mount Tai in the same province.
Meanwhile, one hundred sixty-nine companies showcased over 600 innovative products, including 27 humanoid robots, during the exhibition at the World Robot Conference in Beijing on August 24.
China is in a tech 'arms race' with the West, including Elon Musk in Texas, for the development of robots.
The rivalry between Musk and companies in China is rooted in the broader competition for leadership in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and automation, fields crucial to the future of manufacturing, consumer technology, and space exploration.
Both Musk and several Chinese tech giants are vying to shape these industries.
