China: China launches world's first universal embodied AI platform
China launches world's first universal embodied AI platform (Voice_over) The Beijing Innovation Center of Humanoid Robots has recently launched an embodied AI platform that will accelerate the integration of intelligent technologies into real-world applications. Embodied AI refers to the integration of artificial intelligence into physical entities like humanoid robots, allowing them to "understand" voice commands and execute tasks. The newly-released platform can support a range of robots performing tasks in multiple scenarios. At the launch event, robots showed off the platform's real-world applications in scenarios like industrial sorting, desktop cleaning, and logistics packaging. According to the platform's developers, the operational process involves a feedback loop between the "brain" which plans the tasks, and the "cerebellum" which executes them. To date, their robots have mastered more than 30 action skills. (Sound_bite) Tang Jian, Chief Technology Officer, Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center: "Open, close, pick up, put down, pull out, and rotate, all these skills have been acquired by our robots. By the end of this year, they will master about 100 action skills, which will enable them to conduct most of the tasks in the physical world." (Voice_over) Besides robotic arms and humanoid robots, embodied AI can be applied to other interactive hardware, like autonomous vehicles or wearable devices, enabling them to function as intelligent entities also.
