The U.S. military launched multiple airstrikes in the Yemeni provinces of Hodeidah, Marib and Saada from Saturday night to early Sunday morning , Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported. Both the Hodeidah International Airport and the port of Saleef in Hodeidah province were targeted in the attacks, according to the report. The report did not provide details on casualties or damage caused by the attacks, and there has been no comment from the U.S. side yet. The U.S. Central Command on Saturday posted two videos of fighter jets taking off on social media, showing operations against Houthi targets in Yemen, but did not specify the timing of the operations or the targets of the strikes. The Hodeidah International Airport has been closed to civilian flights since late 2014 when the Houthi group seized control over several northern cities in the country, including the strategic city of Hodeidah. The airport has also been a frequent target of the previous U.S. airstrikes. The Houthis, which control much of northern Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, have been fighting against the internationally-recognized government since 2014. Tensions between the Houthis and the U.S. military have escalated since Washington launched airstrikes on Yemen on March 15. The strikes followed Houthi threats to resume attacks on Israeli targets unless humanitarian aid is allowed into Gaza.
