US, Las Vegas: Las Vegas Undersheriff Provides Update on Large Crime Spree With Carjacking and Murder Suspect With Sound On Tape
Las Vegas, United States - March 27, 2025 03/27/2025 10:00 am (GMT-0700) LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A suspect is in custody following a crime spree across the Las Vegas Valley that began with a fatal shooting in North Las Vegas. The arrest occurred in the area of Boulder Highway and Sahara Avenue after officers pursued multiple stolen vehicles throughout the east valley. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff Andrew Walsh provided details about the events during a news conference. He stated that the police became involved when a car connected to the shooting crashed near Spring Mountain Road and Interstate 15. Shortly thereafter, a woman was carjacked at gunpoint near the intersection of Spring Mountain and Valley View Boulevard. Police utilized license plate reader technology to trace the woman’s stolen truck, which had been driven around the Downtown Area Command. When officers located the vehicle, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. During the pursuit, the suspect carjacked at least two more vehicles and injured multiple bystanders. Walsh noted that investigators are working to determine the total number of victims and incidents that occurred while the suspect was evading arrest. As the suspect fled down Boulder Highway, Walsh reported he carjacked another person in the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant. The suspect continued southbound on Boulder Highway at high speed, with police utilizing air support to monitor the stolen vehicle's movements. “At one point, we believe speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour,” Walsh said. The suspect eventually crashed into a bus stop near Boulder Highway and Tropicana Avenue, injuring at least two people, one of whom was reported to be in critical condition. Following the crash, the suspect carjacked another driver, this time jumping into the back seat of the car. The pursuit concluded at Boulder Highway and Sahara Avenue when police executed a PIT maneuver, ramming the suspect’s vehicle, leading to the arrest. As of this report, the suspect has not been publicly identified. Walsh emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, and officers are gathering information to ascertain if other incidents are connected and the total number of victims involved. Authorities also advised drivers to expect road closures in the investigation areas for several hours.
