An overnight Israeli airstrike on Thursday killed Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif al-Qanou in northern Gaza's Jabalia refugee camp, leaving in its wake a horrific scene, according to survivors. Al-Qanou was confirmed killed when an Israeli missile struck his tent in the sprawling camp in Gaza City at dawn. His death is the latest in a series of high-profile Hamas figures targeted by Israel since the Israeli military resumed its operations in the enclave last week. The Israeli strike also injured several more civilians, including children, according to two eyewitnesses. Israel abruptly ended a two-month ceasefire with Hamas on March 18 by resuming bombing and ground operations in Gaza, increasing pressure on the group to free the remaining hostages in its captivity. The death toll from this latest escalation has exceeded 855, according to the Gaza-based health authorities. Shotlist: Jabalia, Gaza Strip - March 27, 2025: 1. The attack was horrific. The missiles struck a tent where children, the elderly and women were sleeping. It was not even a proper house. I cannot describe with words the horror of seeing those children's blood everywhere."; 3. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ahmed Badwan, eyewitness: "We were sitting peacefully when there was a sudden missile attack on the tents at 01:00. The explosion left many injured, with most of them being children. Bodies were scattered across the site. We immediately called the ambulances and the Civil Defense for help."; 4.
