The Indian government today sent 15 tonnes of aid to the Myanmar earthquake victims.

Footage shows the relief material being loaded onto an Air Force plane at the Airbase in Ghaziabad on Saturday morning, March 29.

The package, part of Operation Brahma, includes blankets, tarpaulins, solar lamps, food packets, and other items.

The US Geological Survey said the tremor struck at a depth of 10 kilometres (six miles), and was centred in Myanmar, around 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Monywa City.

Thousands of people in Myanmar are feared to have been killed in collapsed buildings.

Across neighbouring Bangkok, terrified residents and workers ran into the streets after the quake caused buildings to sway at around 2:20 pm local time.

Debris was seen falling from several high-rise buildings. Officials closed roads and evacuated buildings as they assessed the damage and prepared for aftershocks.
