Workers cleared storm debris from Lake City, Arkansas.

Footage shows Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) crews deploying heavy equipment for the cleanup operation on Thursday following the freak weather that struck the region on April 2.

ARDOT said they focused on Highways 18 and 135, where fallen branches and other debris created hazards. Drivers were urged to be cautious of personnel and equipment on the roads.

Officials reported that multiple tornadoes and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued on Wednesday across parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Mississippi as storms affected these and other states throughout the evening.

Forecasters linked the intense weather to the combination of daytime heating, an unstable atmosphere, strong wind shear, and a surge of moisture flowing from the Gulf into the central part of the country.
