Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden Sets Unprecedented Record with Over 4.46 Lakh Visitors in Just 15 Days

Srinagar, April 9 – Jammu & Kashmir’s iconic Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden has once again proven to be a shining jewel in India’s tourism crown. In just 15 days since the commencement of the much anticipated Tulip Show 2025, the garden has witnessed a record breaking footfall, crossing 4.46 lakh visitors a milestone that surpasses the total visitor count of the entire season last year.

The Department of Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, in an official statement confirmed this remarkable achievement, highlighting the garden’s growing popularity and cultural significance. The previous record, set in 2024 with 4,46,154 visitors during the entire season, has now been eclipsed in less than half the time.

Nestled in the lap of the Zabarwan Range and overlooking the serene Dal Lake, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is celebrated as Asia’s largest tulip garden. This year’s display features a breathtaking 1.7 million tulip bulbs, showcasing 74 distinct and vibrant varieties. The explosion of colors and the meticulously arranged flowerbeds have transformed the garden into a living canvas, attracting tourists, nature lovers, and photographers from across the globe.

Officials attribute this surge in tourist numbers to a combination of favorable weather, enhanced tourism infrastructure, widespread promotional campaigns, and a renewed interest in exploring the natural beauty of Jammu & Kashmir. The garden’s early success this season is also being seen as a promising indicator for the region’s tourism sector, which continues to recover and expand post-pandemic.

“The overwhelming response to the Tulip Show reflects the emotional and visual connection people share with this place,” said an official from the Department of Floriculture. “It’s not just a garden; it’s an experience one that symbolizes peace, hope, and the unmatched beauty of Kashmir.”

The Tulip Garden has become more than just a floral attraction it is now a symbol of Kashmir’s ecological richness, horticultural excellence, and its vibrant potential as a global tourist destination. The growing influx of tourists is also boosting local businesses, from handicrafts and hospitality to travel services and cultural showcases, contributing significantly to the regional economy.
