CCTV footage from April’s home in Santee, CA, captured the exact moment a 4/14/2025 earthquake shook the area, but it was her dogs who sensed it first.

One small jolt was followed by a longer, stronger shake. While April froze in place (zero fight-or-flight, just pure statue mode), her daughter could be heard asking, “What was that?” April calmly replied, “It’s okay. It’s an earthquake. Stay where you are.”

While humans froze in the chaos, her dogs seemed to sense the tremors before they struck.

This is from my home in Santee, CA. My dogs seemed to have noticed the noise first. We had one small shock followed by a second bigger and longer shock.
I had zero fight/flight instincts and I froze instead, haha. You can hear my daughter in the background asking what that was and I told her it’s okay. It’s an earthquake and to stay where she is at. But my dog absolutely had fight instincts as he seemed to get mad that the house was shaking without his permission.
