Hero policeman saves woman from swarm of attacking bees
This is the dramatic moment a hero policeman saved a woman who was being attacked by a swarm of furious bees.
Police Sergeant Major Chaiyaporn Khanenin, 32, spotted the villager being divebombed by the hostile insects in Nakhon Phanom, northeast Thailand, on April 13.
He removed his jacket and used it to swat the buzzing predators away.
Footage shows the brave officer waving the clothing around to ward off the attacking bees.
He then pulled the shaken woman into the patrol vehicle and rushed her to the Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospital, where doctors removed dozens of bee stingers painfully embedded in her skin.
The officer has now been commended by his colleagues at the station.
Chaiyaporn said: 'I didn't think about my own safety. I just wanted to help the woman. I didn't have time to bring any equipment, so I decided to take off my uniform and use it to swat the bees away.
'They were swarming over her in a clear black cloud. If I hadn't helped in time, I don't know what could have happened to her. Her face was swollen and she was about to fall ove. I helped her escape in the patrol car and took her to the hospital.
'I am quite proud that I was able to save her.'
The hero cop added that incense from the nearby Wat Phra That Phanom temple may have enraged the bees, which turned their fury on the woman passing by.
Devotees have been visiting the temple for the Buddhist Songkran festival.
On March 20, six villagers were injured when they were attacked by two rivalling swarms of bees at the Wat Phasukram market in Ubon Ratchathani.
They were rushed to nearby hospitals for allergic reactions and have since been discharged.
In the neighbouring Philippines, a swarm of furious bees divebombed locals, leaving at least 43 people injured.
The cloud of stinging bugs unleashed a frenzied assault after visitors poked their hive at the Energy Park in Davao del Norte on April 9.
The Tagum City Government said trained beekeepers were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct 'fogging operations' to control the swarm.
