VARIOUS OF ISRAELI FORCES' SOLDIERS AND VEHICLESJERUSALEM - APR. 22: Israeli forces demolished the home of slain Palestinian Mohammad Shihab in the town of al-Ram, north of occupied East Jerusalem, early Tuesday morning. In a statement, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the operation, saying the Benjamin Brigade, Yahalom unit fighters, and Border Police from the Judea and Samaria Division were involved in the demolition of the two-story building. Shihab was accused of carrying out a ramming attack at the Nir Tzvi junction that killed Capt. Ariel Topaz and injured three other soldiers. He was later shot by Israeli police near Ramla and died of his injuries. According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli forces stormed the al-Barid neighborhood of al-Ram before surrounding and blowing up Shihab’s house. Residents in nearby homes were evacuated prior to the demolition. In response to the overnight military activity, the Jerusalem Education Directorate delayed school hours in al-Ram, with classes starting at 9 a.m. The IDF had previously raided and surveyed Shihab’s home in July 2024 in preparation for the demolition.
