A man is planning to sing karaoke while running the London Marathon - and will cross the line to Frank Sinatra's My Way.

Stuart Taylor, 45, will be belting out everything from 80s rock to 90s R&B whilst running over 26.2 miles on April 27, 2025.

The dad decided to sing his way round the route after noticing he was singing along to his tunes while going on runs.

He wears a backpack with a speaker and microphone - and has a second one for people to join in while he runs.

Stuart has already practiced by singing and running the Brighton half marathon in March 2025.

He takes song requests - such as ABBA and Queen - as he goes and is planning to cross the finish line to Frank Sinatra's My Way.

Stuart, from Lancing, West Sussex, said: "I enjoy running, I enjoy singing, and I often sing on runs."

"I've noticed when I'm with other people, if it's an easy pace or a conversational run, then you'll end up singing, having a bit of a sing song. "

"So that planted the seed of, do you know what that might be a fun thing to do."

Stuart admits the first time he tried singing through a microphone whilst running he felt "unbelievably uncomfortable" – as no one he was running with understood what was happening."

But once he got over his self consciousness, he quickly found confidence when people realised it was all in aid of WaterAid - the charity Stuart is raising money for.

Stuart said: "People were thinking 'Who is this guy?'"

"But once they understood I was raising money for WaterAid, everybody was on board."

"I take around a second microphone, so I'm encouraging other people to join in."

"I've unearthed some proper superstars who join me for a sing song."

Stuart has been training by singing through the microphone on park runs- so he has the strength to run with his karaoke set up on his back.

Stuart said: "There's the part of training that's able to get me round running 26.2 miles. There's the part where I need to strengthen the parts of my body that need to be in shape. "

"And then there's the third part of it, which is the singing."

"I think I've managed to do the running that I've needed. On Sunday, I did an 18 mile run with the backpack on. So that's the longest I've been with that. And that felt okay."

"I think I'll take the full karaoke kit out to a parkrun. Just as a bit of a dress rehearsal."

"To be able to check that all of the kit works and to remind myself what it feels like to not run too fast."

"Also to get over any self-consciousness about singing alongside strangers."

Stuart has an "eclectic" music taste and his karaoke playlist features pop from recent years, R&B and rock."

But he does take requests as he goes and said the common ones he got at the Brighton half were ABBA, Queen and George Michael.

Stuart already has a song in mind to finish the marathon with.

He said: "I'm thinking it might have to be My Way, by Frank Sinatra."

"I think that's the big finishing song. Like I'm Frank Sinatra at 79 still performing- I think that's how I will feel when I cross the line. Like I am in my 80's!"

Stuart has already raised over £3,500 of his £4,000 target - and has supported WaterAid over the years with other challenges such as raft races, mountain climbs and the Iceland marathon.

Stuart said: "It's such a such a fundamental thing that they help with. They provide clean water and decent toilets; that's something that we take for granted so much."

"f you don't have those things, It's just a real, a real blocker. I think the most impactful thing I can do is to help them with the great work they do."
