I put my husband's shoes up there to block them from landing. Instead they decided I was gifting them a cozier nest.
These doves have been with us since our last home—it’s like they’re part of the family at this point. When I saw them eyeing our patio as their next nesting spot, I (gently) tried to redirect them to a more natural location like a tree or bush. I didn’t have anything handy, so I tossed my husband’s shoes up on the post to block their path.
Well… they took that as a personal welcome mat. Not only did they stay, they turned the shoes into a deluxe nesting suite.
For the record, I adore animals and fully support our feathered friends—I was just hoping they’d choose a cozier spot not directly above our patio furniture. Nature wins again
