Ed Sheeran surprised pub-goers when he took over a boozer and performed an hour-long set.

The superstar rebranded the Thomas Wolsey pub in Ipswich, Suffolk, 'The Old Phone' - the name of his latest song - leaving fans wondering if he was going to make an appearance.

The Shape of You singer then turned up to perform hits including Perfect and Galway Girl during the intimate gig on Sunday.

The British pub will keep the rebrand for two weeks before changing back.

Grace Gonzalez, and her boyfriend, Nathan Davis, both 21, went to the pop-up event in Suffolk and said it was "the most special day ever"."

Grace, an a content creator and influencer, from Newcastle, said: "The pop up was to promote his new song and the pub was fully rebranded."

"He sang a mix of his older songs, newer songs and some covers too."

"Honestly, it was the best day that we will never ever forget."

It follows a similar stunt during March in which the popstar temporarily set up another 'Old Phone' pub in Ipswich, Massachusetts, US.

During the American set, he brought out singer Noah Kahan to perform Stick Season with him in front of a small crowd of people.
