A lamp for peace sails under Tower Bridge activating an illumination to celebrate VE Day 80
Tower Bridge is seen lit up yesterday evening (May 8) for the fourth and final of Victory in Europe celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the return to peace after Adolf Hitler's surrender.
The MV Havengore, can be seen in the video carrying a 'lamp of peace, blessed earlier by the Dean of St Paul's Cathedral.
Chelsea Pensioner, Colin Thackery, a Korean war veteran and several pipers and Thames Watermen acommpanied the flame on the vessel, as it sailed under Tower Bridge, activating a light display and the famous landmark became illuminated in the blue, white and red colours of the Union flag.
The boat carried the body of Winston Churchill in 1956 during his State funeral, when his coffin was carried along the Thames from St Paul's Cathedral to Waterloo.
