Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed explosions in Srinagar, shortly after the two nuclear-armed neighbors announced the truce. “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!” J&K CM Omar Abdullah posted on X, (formerly Twitter), adding, “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up”. A blackout was imposed in the region following the blasts, according to local sources. Eyewitnesses in Srinagar shared videos on social media platform X, showing what appeared to be tracer fire from anti-aircraft guns targeting suspected drones in the night sky. Similar incidents were reported in Jammu, with gunfire heard in multiple areas. Air raid sirens were also activated in Rajasthan, while local media reported an explosion in Sopore. A senior government official stated, "Ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and drone sightings over Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan have been observed." The ceasefire agreement, announced earlier on Saturday, came after days of escalated hostilities involving fighter jets, missiles, drones, and artillery exchanges. The breakthrough was unexpectedly revealed by U.S. President Donald Trump, who praised both countries for exercising "common sense."
