German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer attended the meeting at the historic Mariinskyi Palace. Zelenskyy said Saturday that new US military aid is arriving in Ukraine today, thanking US President Donald Trump for continued support and intelligence sharing amid intensified calls for a ceasefire. “I thank President Trump for not stopping and American aid is coming today, for not stopping the exchange of intelligence,” Zelenskyy said at a press conference in Kyiv, held after a major summit of European leaders. “This is important for us during the work of protecting the sky.” The summit, hosted in the Ukrainian capital, brought together the leaders of the UK, France, Germany and Poland, a gathering Zelenskyy described as “United Europe in Ukraine.” The talks also included the participation of 30 more countries, the EU, and NATO representatives via video link. “The most important result is an absolutely clear united position on a ceasefire – complete, unconditional and for at least 30 days, to give diplomacy a real chance,” he said. Zelenskyy also highlighted ongoing communication with Washington, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with Trump. “Ukraine has a very productive dialogue with President Trump and communication with the team. Thank you for that,” he wrote on Telegram. "After the summit, we all spoke together with President Trump and agreed on our common view, our joint further actions,” the Ukrainian president added. The gathering marks a coordinated international effort to push forward a diplomatic path, with Zelenskyy emphasizing the need for “accountability for the refusal” of a ceasefire and long-term security guarantees.
