9. LEADERS SHAKING HANDS IN FRONT OF PRESS MEMBERS KYIV, UKRAINE - AUG. 25: Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store visited Kyiv on Monday, Aug. 25, reaffirming his country’s strong support for Ukraine.

Store met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for talks covering defense cooperation, energy, sanctions, and security guarantees. Following the meeting, the leaders held a joint press conference.

The Norwegian leader highlighted continued backing through the Nansen Support Program, underlining that strengthening Ukraine’s defense capacity remains the best security guarantee. He also called for greater pressure on Russia through sanctions.

Zelenskyy welcomed the visit, noting that the talks covered a wide range of cooperation areas.

Store’s visit came a day after Norway announced, in partnership with Germany, a new defense package worth approximately $695 million for Ukraine.

Earlier, German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil paid an unannounced visit to the Ukrainian capital.
