US: Helicopter Battles Sapphire Fire Amidst Strong Winds
United States - May 12, 2025 Sapphire, California – A video has emerged showing a helicopter flying through thick smoke to drop water over the Sapphire Fire. CAL FIRE BDU reports that the fire has grown to 10 acres, but it is now 75% contained after aggressive efforts. Both air and ground resources worked tirelessly this afternoon to control the blaze, despite the strong winds making the task more difficult. Two fire engines will remain on the scene overnight to reinforce containment lines and address any remaining hot spots.
